About D'Bashmaya
D'bashmaya is really three words in Aramaic: d-ba-shmaya.
- D: moving to and from, there and back.
- Ba: with, among, in and, at the same time, within. It links what we feel in our interior life with what we perceive outside us.
- shmaya: based on the word shem, meaning light, sound, vibration, name, or word. The ending -aya shows that this includes every center of activity, every place we see, as well as the potential abilities of all things: this realm of shem has no boundary or limit.
In ancient Southwest Asia, people perceived each other as vibrating with a particular atmosphere or sound, their *shem* in Aramaic or Hebrew. This sound was associated with their name, another translation of the word. It was as though human beings were condensed sound rather than mere outer appearances. In this sense, one's name included one's sound, vibration, or atmosphere, and names were carefully given and received.

I started making brainwave entrainment tracks to provide myself a little comfort for my ailments. I've dealt with migraines my whole life, and they only got worse as I entered my twenties. Then, as I entered my thirties, a significant water leak developed in the rented townhouse I was living in, leading to a substantial mold outbreak in both the rental and my body. My health quickly deteriorated, and continued to do so over the next several years, as the issues from the mold illness exacerbated the migraines, and lead to the development of new symptoms, like vertigo. Indeed, it was a lucky week where I got two migraine-free days.
About three years ago I began to change my daily habits in service to my health: I started exercising more, doing qigong, and completely overhauling my diet. I also began taking activated charcoal and diatomaceous earth to help clear out the lingering contaminants in my body. The migraines came further and further apart, but they were still pretty debilitating. The vertigo remained.
I have been experimenting with binaural beats for the better part of 15 years. My training is in audio engineering, and I have always been drawn to the more esoteric uses of said craft. I had found modest results in the past with simple binaural tracks I had made in Audacity (a tone in each ear), but they tended to take a lot longer to see any benefits, and required more stringent settings (dark, long length, etc.), so I didn't use them too often. When I did, I tended to overuse them, acclimating to the tracks, and thus seeing less benefit. Then, benefiting less, I would go long stretches not using them, and suffering.
Several years back I began learning PureData in earnest, and as a learning aid I decided to dip my toes back into brainwave entrainment by developing some tools to make tracks. I started looking at the current research and discovered isochronic tones, which I have found to be very useful in decreasing time to entrainment. I also began experimenting: embedding the tones in various-colored noises and nature tracks, manipulating said noises and tracks to be more effective additions, and blending multiple beats together.
I found some comprehensive frequency lists online, and began using them as starting points, testing different combinations. I soon discovered the tracks were not only more effective than previous experiemnts, but they also took less time to be so. They also didn't require such spartan environs: while sitting quietly in a dark room and focusing solely on the tracks yielded the maximum benefit, they were proving to be useful even when applied whilst going about my day-to-day: reading, writing, walking, even mowing the lawn! (NOT operating heavy machinery, though!!!) I made myself several tracks for various ailments, and saw my life become less underscored by constant pain and suffering.
An interesting thing happened with my migraines, too: they began to be less severe. When they hit, I apply some tracks, and I can get through the day with minimal fuss, although I need to note that the migraines never really went completely away: the symptoms (especially the cognitive ones) were attenuated, allowing a greater degree of agency. I would and do still get severe migraines, but they are fewer and farther between. The vertigo also started to become much less frequent. I began sharing some tracks with family members, and they have also reported benefits from their use.
So...why release them now? Frankly, I have not come across anything else like them. Most entrainment tracks I have come across are either simpler tracks, like the ones I first made, or ambient, synthy tracks that I haven't found to be effective. My tracks have been carefully programmed, tweaked, tested, and constantly experimented on, to ensure they are not only effective and remain so for a long time. My hope is that others will find them, use them, and greatly benefit from their use.
